Louis Vuitton Neverfull Size Comparison: Capacity, Weight and Use

Updated September 2026

This Louis Vuitton Neverfull size comparison is based on the loads you carry every day. When choosing a bag, the size of your load determines if you'll carry a PM, MM, or GM bag. When considering a used bag, do the measurements match the description? Are there additional accessories?

PM is the smallest size and MM is the bigger of the two. GM is the largest size of the three. To determine the right size to buy, consider the contents that you would be carrying. The size name doesn't determine if the bag would be comfortable to carry or if it would even fit the load.

  • Product description dimensions provided by the company may not be the same as the resale dimensions provided by a reseller.
  • Louis Vuitton publishes a 0.8 kg weight for Monogram MM reference M46987; that figure doesn't cover every Neverfull. Other Neverfull bags need their own weight checks.
  • It's possible for a laptop to be within the capacity of a tote bag, but it might not be the most comfortable bag to carry.
  • Ask the seller to provide measurements and pictures of the bag to help determine if it would meet your needs.

Neverfull size comparison: PM, MM and GM at a glance

Neverfull PM, MM and GM listed dimensions with Louis Vuitton fit examples: 9-inch tablet, 13-inch and 15-inch laptops

Louis Vuitton Neverfull bags come in PM, MM, and GM. The PM is the smallest and the GM the largest. A size guide is necessary to decode which number corresponds to which bag. Louis Vuitton provides dimensions for their Monogram product line that can be used as an example. Each listed inch measurement is the external size of the bag and is provided by the manufacturer. The inch figures are manufacturer-listed external dimensions; the metric column converts them at 2.54 cm per inch and rounds to one decimal place. Neither the imperial nor the metric measurement indicates the size of the interior of a used bag.

Louis Vuitton Neverfull tote bag: current Monogram references, checked September 2026
Size and reference Listed length × height × width Calculated metric equivalent, rounded Manufacturer fit example Starting point for your search
Neverfull PM, M46979 11.4 × 8.3 × 4.7 inches 29.0 × 21.1 × 11.9 cm 9-inch tablet Compact daily essentials; check each bulky item
Neverfull MM, M46987 18.5 × 11 × 5.5 inches 47.0 × 27.9 × 14.0 cm 13-inch laptop Everyday tote or moderate work bag; test the sleeve
Neverfull GM, M46978 21.7 × 12.6 × 7.5 inches 55.1 × 32.0 × 19.1 cm 15-inch laptop and 13-inch tablet Larger work or travel kit; assess loaded comfort

Louis Vuitton doesn't identify which dimension of “Length × Height × Width” is the flat bottom or the top opening on their product pages, so assuming the first dimension is the flat bottom or top opening is not justified. Treat any guide to Louis Vuitton size estimation as a starting point for comparison. These device examples include information about what a bag can fit without specifying every laptop model or protective case.

For current descriptions, see the official PM M46979, MM M46987 and GM M46978 pages. Older editions need their own listing checks.

At 11.4 × 8.3 × 4.7 inches, the referenced PM gives a smaller external outline than the MM. Prospective buyers interested in the handbag model need to consider both the interior size of the bag and the narrowest usable size of the opening. The size of the opening and the interior space both affect whether the bag can accommodate a laptop.

Why Neverfull dimensions differ between listings

Where to measure a soft tote: base width, opening width, body height, base depth and handle drop, bag empty, laces loose

Flexible bags, like the tote bag, have different measurements based on the reference point, material and shape of the bag. Treat a smaller measurement as a reason to request a labelled photo rather than assume the seller named the wrong size.

Start by matching units. The National Institute of Standards and Technology conversion table gives 1 inch as 2.54 cm. Thus 18.5 inches converts to 46.99 cm, or approximately 47 cm. The conversion alone will not account for large differences caused by measuring other portions of the bag.

2-Width Measurement Card

When providing measurement estimates, the base and opening of the bag should be measured and reported separately.

Ask the seller to record How to make the comparison useful Limitation
Reference and material Match the listing, photographs and any available documentation A reference claim does not authenticate the item
Bag state Empty bag, no organizer, side laces loose Record packed or cinched measurements separately
Base width Photograph the tape across the base, end to end Do not substitute the opening width
Opening width Measure the natural opening without pulling it taut Soft material can change shape
Body height Show the measurement from base to rim Handles are a separate dimension
Base depth Measure front to back at the base External depth is not interior clearance
Handle drop Show the vertical gap from handle apex to rim Drop alone does not prove shoulder fit
Interior footprint Show where an organizer or sleeve would sit Seams and pockets can reduce useful space
Included pieces List pouch, inserts and other accessories separately Never assume the photographed extras are included

Make sure to take both pictures when comparing bags. A measured figure that's approximately 47 cm long can't be used to determine 47 cm of interior space. How was the measuring tape placed? Consider the number only if you're satisfied with the seller's explanation of where it was measured.

Neverfull PM vs MM for daily essentials

Neverfull PM vs MM: a weekday kit of phone, long wallet, keys, sunglasses, bottle and a cased tablet against each size

When deciding which LV Neverfull size you prefer, consider the biggest, rigid item you'll carry in it. A small item carried in the tote can weigh more than a bulky item; weigh both. A bulky item carried in the MM will also take up more room than a small item carried in the tote.

Is the Neverfull MM or PM bigger?

The currently available monogram references show the Louis Vuitton Neverfull PM and MM sizes are not the same. The medium-sized Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM is larger than the PM. Louis Vuitton states that the PM size bag can hold a 9-inch tablet, and the MM size can hold a 13-inch laptop; these are examples, not size limits. You should check the measurements of your tablets and laptops to confirm.

Let’s say there’s a customer who carries a phone, long wallet, keys, sunglasses and a water bottle on weekdays. A PM may look okay as an everyday bag in a photo. Add a tablet in a bulkier case and the bottle would have to be carried along with the rigid rectangle. Have this customer lay out the whole kit and take a photo of it. Have this customer also measure the space occupied by the kit. If the seller can’t provide photos or measurement showing that the tablet can be accessed easily, consider the MM or ask for a showing. It’s always a good idea to check what you’re carrying to see if it’s too heavy, but without checking, a person may be inclined to carry more.

For individuals residing in Singapore, the appointment-only handbag showroom of Luxury Evermore offers an opportunity to have a viewing. Make sure the specific bag will be available for viewing, prior to going there.

A 9-inch tablet example makes the referenced PM worth considering for a light daily kit. Compare the size of the PM's interior with the combined size of the other items that would need to be carried inside it. The MM’s larger published size shouldn't be taken as a confirmation that the other items can be carried inside the bag.

Neverfull MM vs GM for work and travel

Neverfull MM vs GM checks: sleeved laptop vs the narrowest opening, and a 22 × 14 × 9-inch carry-on limit vs personal item

For size comparison, the MM vs. GM debate isn't too complicated. The GM's generous size has room for a larger load, but will not necessarily carry it more comfortably. The MM is better for a more compact load and will take up less space next to you. Neither will guarantee that a sleeved computer will pass through the opening and be comfortable to transport.

For size comparison, put your computer in its sleeve and measure the width, height, and thickness. Then measure the bag's narrowest usable opening and the inside space that will hold your computer. The 13” and 15” examples given by Louis Vuitton don't refer to the actual physical size of a laptop.

Is the GM too big for everyday use?

A large, bulky load may require the GM size, and a small load may require the PM or MM size, like when carrying a wallet and phone. Compare sizes in relation to how the bag will be worn. Whatever your height, compare the size of the Neverfull with your loaded kit to determine the proper fit.

Picture a commuter with a laptop, lunch and cardigan. With respect to the commuter’s gear, including the lunch box, MM may leave less room than GM. However, both may have the same problems with a heavier lunch and charger. Test the tote. One way to test either bag would be to load it with the laptop and other gear, then carry it on your shoulder. If the bag and its contents knock into your leg on the walk, and the gear feels heavy and uncomfortable, perhaps a smaller bag would be better. If the gear isn’t too big but carrying it together is uncomfortable, perhaps a separate laptop bag would be more comfortable.

Using a GM as a travel bag requires a case-by-case evaluation. Check the operating airline's rules, such as Delta's carry-on guidance. A personal item, Delta says, is also permitted and should fit under the seat in front of you. Its 22 × 14 × 9-inch carry-on limit includes handles or wheels and is a different allowance. Even if a GM fits Delta’s carry-on measurements, it may not qualify as a personal item.

A 15-inch laptop would make the GM a more attractive option. However, the final decision should be based on the actual measurements and the comfort of the user. It's always a good idea to check with your airline for the most current personal-item policy and see if your bag will actually fit under the seat.

Neverfull weight: empty bag versus packed load

Hypothetical packed load: an 800 g bag, a 1,500 g laptop and sleeve and seven more items total 4,000 g (4.0 kg)

Published Neverfull weights and actual carried weights aren't the same. The listed weight for Monogram MM M46987 is 0.8 kg, while Empreinte MM M58907 is listed at 1 kg. The listed weights equate to 800 g and 1,000 g respectively. Neither of the web pages providing the listed weights states whether supplied accessories are included in those weights. The PM and GM web pages reviewed for this analysis didn't include a listed weight.

The M58907 Empreinte specification belongs to an embossed cowhide version. Its 200 g difference from the referenced Monogram MM is an arithmetic comparison of two listed values, not a controlled experiment proving that every leather Neverfull weighs 200 g more.

Packed-Load Ledger

The Packed-Load Ledger adds the bag, accessories, organizer and contents once each.

Hypothetical worked example: replace every input with your own scale reading
Item Example mass Counting rule
Empty bag with its pouch 800 g Includes the pouch in this example only
Organizer 200 g Count separately if not on the scale with the bag
Laptop and sleeve 1,500 g Weigh both together
Charger 250 g Include the cable
Filled water bottle 600 g Use its filled weight
Wallet 180 g Weigh with normal contents
Phone 200 g Include its case
Keys 70 g Include attached accessories
Notebook 200 g Add other regular items separately
Total 4,000 g / 4.0 kg An example total, not a comfortable or safe load rating

This example shows that 800 + 200 + 1,500 + 250 + 600 + 180 + 200 + 70 + 200 = 4,000 grams. Before the charger, the total weight of the laptop and sleeve is 1.5 kg. Removing the organizer changes the total to 3.8 kg; leaving the laptop and charger behind gives 2.25 kg with the organizer retained. Use these differences to decide if you're comfortable with the total load of the EDC. Moving the same objects into GM doesn't remove their weight, and the example's 800 g bag input isn't a verified empty weight for your chosen MM.

For a pre-loved purchase, weigh your normal kit, the bag alone and any removable accessories separately. Don’t believe the 4.0 kg load example and assume that's an acceptable used bag load.

Strap drop, body proportions and organizer fit

Neverfull shoulder and organizer checks: coat bulk, strap reach, organizer corners on the lining, access with sides loose

There are a number of factors that contribute to the ease with which you can slip a bag onto your shoulder and reach into it aside from the handle drop of a Neverfull. These include the shape of your bag and what you're carrying in it, as well as the type of clothing you're wearing. Of course, you should also consider how an organizer affects the bag.

Comfort is subjective, and a number of accounts on PurseForum disagree on which types of leather straps are the most comfortable. Because of this, it's best to test a bag yourself to come to your own conclusion.

  • Jacket and coat bulk can affect how bag straps fit over your shoulders.
  • You should be able to slip the shoulder straps of the bag over your shoulder.
  • When using an organizer, check to see if there's contact between the corners and the lining.
  • Make sure to leave enough room to fully access the main compartment with the sides loose, then gently cinch the sides; avoid pulling against a tight insert.

When comparing MM Neverfull diaper bags, be sure to include the changing pouch and filled bottles in your evaluation. The interior of the bag may be roomy, but that space is less useful if you can't reach the bottles and changing pouch without unloading the rest of the contents.

When not to buy that particular Neverfull

An unacceptable solution to the measurement discrepancy is grounds for rejection, as is a poor fit of the shoulder straps in relation to the contents you'll normally carry. The tote's large external dimensions don't establish usable internal space; checking access is essential. A petite woman may find a GM comfortable, as may a taller woman. The best indicator of how a tote will fit you is a personally loaded trial.

Request photos of the stress points of a bag and any repaired areas, then assess the shape of that particular bag when packed. You can request to review photos of the items you'll purchase and ask to inspect the items in person, if possible. Size and condition checks are your responsibility to evaluate the merit of your purchase. Neither of these checks verifies the authenticity of the individual Louis Vuitton bag.

Materials, BB and Inside Out: keep versions separate

Keep Neverfull versions apart: BB is its own size, Inside Out MM is reversible with two laces and two hooks, linings vary

Certain design changes may differentiate one Damier version from another, and a design change to a monogram may impact a purchaser's preference. Neverfull BB is different from PM/MM/GM and shouldn't be included in this comparison. A listing may include items that alter the initial owner experience.

For example, Inside Out MM M25664 is reversible and lists two side laces plus two side hooks. Women's Wear Daily's Inside Out launch report describes several fabrications, so the name does not identify one universal construction.

Monogram, Damier Ebene and Damier Azur bag linings may differ from the samples pictured. Beige, rose ballerine or pivoine might describe the interior lining colors; check the listing, and do not assume a tote comes with the BB crossbody strap shown elsewhere.

The referenced Inside Out MM measures approximately 18.5 × 11 × 5.5 inches, but sharing those dimensions with another MM doesn't establish identical weight, lining or accessories. Before transferring a fit recommendation between versions, evaluate the full model description.

Pre-owned checks before choosing a size

Pre-owned Neverfull checks: measure base and opening widths with laces loose, list accessories, confirm returns, authenticate

Measurements and descriptions should be correlated with photographs. Terms of service should be assessed to determine if they protect the buyer. Size may be correlated with fit, but other considerations (e.g. whether the individual Neverfull is authentic, or is in good condition) should be assessed independently.

“Read the entire product description, including the fine print.”

The base width and natural opening width of an empty bag should be measured with its side laces loose, and included accessories should also be listed. Before the sale of the bag, ask for photos to determine the condition of the bag handle attachments.

Luxury Evermore's delivery and returns terms state restrictive cancellation and refund conditions. Don't assume that choosing the wrong size qualifies for a return; confirm the terms for your purchase before paying.

If you've additional questions, please consult Luxury Evermore's Entrupy authentication service and direct your questions about the applicable scope there. The description of the service in no way guarantees the listing in question is authentic, and this size guide isn't an authenticator.

Compare the available pre-owned Louis Vuitton collection after narrowing your requirements. If the required Neverfull size or material is absent, the designer bag sourcing service provides a route to discuss it. Availability and a successful match must be confirmed.

Frequently asked questions

What are the different Louis Vuitton Neverfull sizes?

PM, MM and GM Louis Vuitton bag size options are compared here, and BB bags are considered small. Louis Vuitton also offers bags in other materials and Inside Out versions; a size name alone is incomplete. For a complete listing, the seller should provide photographs and the actual dimensions of the bag.

What size Neverfull should I get?

When determining which model to buy, first consider PM for a small daily kit, MM for moderate work use and the GM size for bulky contents, and finally test the load with your largest bulky item. A rigid-shell laptop case, bottle and organizer may change your decision. Be sure the bag can be comfortably shouldered.

Has the Louis Vuitton Neverfull been discontinued?

As of September 2026, Louis Vuitton's web pages hadn't removed the PM, MM, and GM references relating to the Neverfull. This doesn't mean historic prints, materials, and editions remain on the market. A seller should disclose which edition has been discontinued. This is different from saying the entire Neverfull line has been discontinued.

Can a Neverfull size chart authenticate a bag?

No. Using dimensions can help catch errors or raise questions for the seller, but being similar to a chart doesn't prove anything. Make sure to have the authenticity of the item in question separately verified. You can perform fit checks to check the dimensions of a bag, but dimensions alone cannot replace the authentication of each individual bag you want to purchase.

For buyers in the United States, U.S. Customs and Border Protection tells shoppers to buy from reputable online sources and notes that individual consumers may be liable for a fine even if they did not intend to import counterfeit merchandise. A matching size chart does not lower that risk; the individual bag still needs its own authentication check.

How do I compare two sellers using different measurements?

Both sellers must use the same units of measurement, and identify the location on the bag being measured. Request photos of the base width, natural opening width, body height and depth with the bag empty, the organizer removed and the side laces loose. Make sure to request measurements with the bag not cinched, and also not packed.

The requested measurements of a packed or cinched bag must be recorded separately. You must request pictures of the material the bag is made of, and the tag attached to the bag, if any. If after all of the above requests have been made and pictures taken, and the measurements don't match, you must ask the sellers if they measured the bag with handles, or if they've taken measurements across a curved surface or copied a generic specification. Keep the pictures, as well as the answers the sellers give you, and don't edit or round the measurements to agree with each other.

Method: In writing this article Luxury Evermore has relied on manufacturer provided specifications, and seller provided policies, to describe a proposed method for buyer comparison. The article does not report weighing/pack testing, because Luxury Evermore did not perform those tests. The author hypothetically described a packed load for illustration, not a load limit. Louis Vuitton provides product specifications. Luxury Evermore is an independent, pre-owned purveyor.
