Miu Miu appoints new CEO from Valentino: What We Know
Miu Miu has appointed Silvia Onofri as its new chief executive, its first new Head honcho in over 15 years.
Ofuri worked in banking, serving as a managing director for JP Morgan Chase, before joining the fashion industry. Accomplished industry insider Ofuri is a long-time friend of Miu Miu’s creative director, Mrs. Miuccia Prada, and CEO of the Miu Miu eponymous brands at Prada Group. Throughout her career, Ofuri has managed directorships at Valentino and Céline.
She left Valentino on Wednesday, marking yet another change in leadership within the LVMH-owned house. This news follows the exit of creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, and accounts and administration director Francesco Muzzi, who joined Bottega Veneta as its new CEO.
Ofuri will assume her new responsibilities on February 26, a statement from the fashion house said on Thursday.
The appointment comes amid a challenging environment for the luxury fashion industry, but Miu Miu has experienced resilience, registering a 3 per cent annual sales growth, reaching €1.2 billion in 2022. In a difficult economic environment that impacted much of the industry’s 2022 results, Miu Miu’s outcome “demonstrates the strength of the offer and the great potential of the brand,” said Miuccia Prada, after the last financial results were released, in April.
