Dior gives its iconic watch a fresh new look

Whisked away from public view, the Dior Chiffre Rouge collection, launched in 2004, was withdrawn from the brand’s boutiques. Its rare and exceptional nature, combined with the fact that only 888 pieces were produced, means it has now reappeared as a much-conquering timepiece in February 2024. Ever since, it has achieved legendary status and is sending all watch and fashion aficionados into a frenzy. As a result, Dior is honouring the return of this exclusive collection with an extraordinary new edition, by revisiting the four families, JPG, 8, C01 and CD, that make up the re-released collection that pays homage to Christian Dior’s love for the colour red and the number eight.

Dior pays homage to its legacy with the number eight feature prominently incorporated into each design, which takes inspiration from the eight-pointed star on the lucky 1947 eight-petal flower pin fashioned for Monsieur Dior by Christian Dior. Each model is a testament to the House of Dior’s heritage and the enduring appeal of classic elegance, blending seamlessly with the brand’s other collections.

The new design mixes and matches different disciplines, from structure to colour, scale to substance, to create a collection full of life that is at once bold and unique. The C01 family, which has six distinctive designs, all of which have a diameter of 40 mm, has gained four new allies with chronograph functions. These models, which are as refined as they are remarkable, are characterised by the delicacy of their raised bezel and the elegance of their eight-sided crown, are decked out in white or rose gold.

Depending on the version, these new additions come in white or grey satin-finished dial bedecked with 12 diamond hours markers and two windows that each display the day of the month; or a sun-brushed dial decked out with 12 red cabochon-cut ruby hours markers, two black enamel-coated windows and three chronograph counters outlined in black enamel or rose gold. They are also available with a diamond-set white gold bezel, or a bezel engraved with the Mon Chou pattern; and a white gold bracelet.

Meanwhile, the JPG family features two new satin-finished white gold models, each with a diameter of 37 mm. They have a white dial decked out with 12 diamond hours markers and two red cabochon-cut ruby counters, and are each matched with a satin-finished white gold bracelet. The JPG family originally came out in 2004 with two models: one in red gold with a black dial and another in pink gold with a silver dial.

With a diameter of 38 mm, the six new CD models, two of which are set with precious stones, also join the new edition of the Dior Chiffre Rouge collection. The first three, which combine elegance and refinement, are in ultramatte black effect: two with a diamond-set white gold bezel and one with a bezel engraved with the emblematic Mon Chou pattern. The last three, which have a diameter of 33 mm, combine black PVD-coated white gold and white gold, and feature a white dial decked out with a single diamond at 12 o’clock, a red CD signature at 6 o’clock, and a red-lacquered minute hand. They are all guaranteed to steal the show.

The new Dior watch collection is a wonderful tribute to the heritage of the House of Dior, which since the reign of Christian Dior has always had a deep-seated passion for elegance. Whether each unique design is tailored to suit a man’s wrist or formed to sit impeccably on a woman’s wrist, the reimagined Chiffre Rouge line is a celebration of style and finesse.
