A Bottega Veneta Bag That’s Not a Cassette
I’ll be honest, when I first saw the Bottega Veneta Ciao Ciao Bag as part of the summer 2025 campaign, I wasn’t blown away. I’m still riding the Bottega Veneta Cassette hard (proof: I was the only person in the office who didn’t swap it out during our big Andiamo bag swap). However, when the full Andiamo family was revealed during NYFW, I fell hard for the Ciao Ciao. Its compact size would be perfect for whipping around town with just the essentials, and I loved the modern elliptical shape. I was also curious how the Ciao Ciao’s different handle iterations would wear in person — would it be as versatile as I imagined?
To find out, I snagged the top handle option with the long post addendum: a beautiful shade of faded denim blue called Jesper. I knew right away that I’d be carrying it with that long crossbody strap, but once I tried it on I was determined to test out the different handle methods. So I took it across town to a show and back (with a few pit stops for extra photog evidence) to get the full experience.

I’ve never steered too far away from classic top-handle bags, so I knew I’d enjoy that simple option. And I did: It felt so good to keep things on the simpler side. Matthieu Blazy continues to master the Andiamo bag at Bottega Veneta, because this thing is so well built. The supple leather feels luxurious and substantial without being stiff or too precious (I did take the opportunity to prop my chin on it for a few photos).
The Ciao Ciao is also surprisingly roomy. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I was able to fit inside without having to cram or fold: keys, wallet, phone, and small beauty pouch all went in easily and didn’t make the bag look distended. I did have to keep shifting the weight around to get the top handle to sit properly, but that’s a minor quibble. Otherwise, it’s the perfect get-ready-and-go-out-the-door bag that I’ve been hoping to find.

And it is beautiful. The hardware is a rich brass that doesn’t detract from the gorgeous leather, and the new elliptical silhouette is so chic. I’ve had my eye on a few other Bottega Veneta bags recently (case in point: my coworker has the adorable Cabanella in camel), but the Ciao Ciao quickly shot to the top of my wish list. If you’re currently shopping Bottega Veneta, I highly recommend giving it a try.

The Bottega Veneta Ciao Ciao's Investment Potential
Luxury handbag collectors have their eyes on Bottega Veneta's new Ciao Ciao bag, wondering if it will become a future classic. Bottega Veneta is known for its high-quality materialslike the intricate woven leather (intrecciato) they use.
Right now, you can buy the Ciao Ciao for around $5,900 to $11,800 depending on the size and leather. If Bottega Veneta keeps the production numbers low, that could make the bag more exclusive and potentially increase its value later on.
The Bottega Veneta Ciao Ciao bag has become a focal point for luxury collectors, priced at $5,900 in the U.S. and S$7,980 in Singapore. The bag's future price faces market challenges as industry analysts at Business of Fashion note 70% of "it" bags fade into obscurity within five years. Bottega Veneta's 22% revenue growth in 2024 (Vogue Business) suggests growing clout, though long-term appreciation depends on sustained cultural relevance in the competitive luxury market.
